The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) course was developed to give solid waste professionals exposure to the regulatory and operational challenges encountered in today’s solid waste field. Students attend 3 days of intensive instruction including a field exercise followed by a 3-hour comprehensive exam on the fourth day.
The 2017 SWANA MOLO was held October 2 – 5 in Fresno California, with the field exercise conducted at the County of Fresno American Avenue Disposal Site. The course was very successful with a total of 52 solid waste industry professionals attending from multiple regions of the state, including 24 representatives from several regulatory agencies taking the course and 28 owners, operators and consultants.
More information on MOLO training for 2018 is coming soon.
SWANA offers multiple professional certifications in several areas of solid waste management. More information is available on the SWANA website here.
Many chapters offer these certification courses and other training for continuing education. The Sierra Chapter periodically offers a course to become certified as a Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) as well as other training and educational opportunities.
