For over 50 years, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has been the leading professional association in the solid waste and recycling fields. SWANA is an organization of professionals committed to advancing from solid waste management to resource management through their shared emphasis on education, advocacy, and research. Take this opportunity to apply to be one of a select group presenting at the premier conference for California professionals in the solid waste and resource management industry. Showcase your innovative projects and accomplishments in a friendly environment conducive to learning and career development.
Of special interest are presentations that focus on workplace safety, big data, product stewardship, technology advancements, sustainable materials management, operations management, advocacy, education, China’s import restrictions, innovative programs and educational programs and the private sector’s effort to meet changing public policy.
Solid waste practices, opportunities, challenges, and policies are changing at a fast and furious pace with many divergent paths and practices. The SWANA Symposium encourages the sharing of industry information and creation of educational opportunities for attendees. If you’re ready to share your expertise and engage in lively discussions, please submit an abstract for consideration. We look forward to reviewing your submittal!
Presenters are provided a complimentary full day pass to the Symposium on the day of the presentation.
The 2016 Western Regional Symposium, “Building a Sustainable Future,” was held at the Embassy Suites, San Luis Obispo, from April 11th through April 14th, 2016. Please visit our technical session page (here) to view the presentations from the conference.
The Symposium affords great opportunities to network and exchange ideas with peers, as well as industry leaders, gain valuable knowledge and see the latest innovations and technologies. Symposium technical sessions are presented by experienced professionals and cover a wide-range of topics important to quality integrated waste management… from collection and recycling to cutting-edge regulatory, transformation and disposal developments. Tech sessions also qualify for SWANA CEU’s (ie., MOLO credits). At the symposium’s trade show, you will see the latest products and services available from a variety of exhibitors and you will often be able to speak directly with the innovators, themselves. Between the formal functions, you will find ample time to make new acquaintances, build new relationships and strengthen existing ones.
