The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) course was developed to give solid waste professionals exposure to the regulatory and operational challenges encountered in solid waste disposal. Students attend 3 days of intensive instruction including a field exercise followed by a 3-hour comprehensive exam on the fourth day. Upon passing the exam, participates become certified then have continuing education requirements to maintain the certification.
Sierra Chapter hosts a MOLO Course with a Certification Exam every 3 years, generally in the Fresno area. Dates for the next course remain tentative as SWANA has recently completed modifications to the course curriculum. Please check back for updates on this page, updates to our calendars and events page, or contact Curtis Larkin, Sierra Chapter’s AB Delegate, if you are interested or would like more information.
SWANA offers multiple professional certifications in several areas of solid waste management. More information is available on the SWANA website here.
Many chapters offer these certification courses and other training for continuing education. Check the websites for the Southern California Founding Chapter of SWANA and/or the Northern California Gold Rush Chapter for certification courses offered in those areas.
